Sources for the study of the Holocaust |
|
The aim of Digital NSDAP Documents is to facilitate access and use of primary source material by teachers, students and scholars of the Holocaust. In particular it is hoped that by making primary Nazi documentation available in an inexpensive, easily accessible and transportable form, our young scholars will be encouraged to undertake research on what remains the lowest period for civilisation in human history. We aim to publish Nazi document collections which pertain to the Holocaust in particular on CD ROM. Secondarily we aim to facilitate their translation into English. With our sources, there is no need for specialized viewers aside from a PC monitor. In most cases the documents can be searched via English keywords and the selected pages printed out in A4 and/or A3 formats (depending on the capabilities of your printer). Documents can be enhanced on screen allowing the smallest text to be read. Most satisfying of all, you can work on your documents and access the complete collection at your convenience. English translations of key documents will be made available for free download. We hope that individuals might take the opportunity to send their translated material so that it can be posted on this web site and made available to all researchers. "The more time distances us from the events of the Holocaust, the more urgent is our task to ensure that the remembrances of these crimes against humanity are recorded and preserved so they can be passed from generation to generation".* Our young scholars need access to the primary source material in order to begin today. They cannot stop what they don't understand. Darren O'Brien Managing Director Digital NSDAP Documents *Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, 21January, 2002.
